There was a great sound off from Carlos Santana in Sundays edition San Diego Tribune and how the press totally disregarded mentioning Elvin's passing, he mentioned verbatum, VH1,MtV, ALL news and press, Rolling Stone, he wnet to town on it. Great read.

So with jazz having originated predominately in America, why the indifference? It's part of the musical culture yeah?

By-and-large, Americans who purchase music regularly don't think it's music unless there's a vocalist caterwauling over the riffs. This same demographic also has always worshipped white guitarists over black drummers.

While it's admirable that Carlos Santana mourns Elvin's passing, his gripe about racism in this country is growing thin.

Part of the reason jazz isn't big in this country is because of cheesy jack-asses like Carlos Santana, who probably couldn't play jazz to save his life.

It cracks me up when these clowns get on their high horses about MTV after they've recorded with the likes of Rob Thomas and Faith Hill, then they claim that the entire United States is racist to explain why jass isn't popular.
